Is 2016 the year you turn things around?

The Jar of Thanks, Gratitude, Fun and Joy

What I am thankful for
Spectacular 2016!

Over a decade ago I was introduced to the concept of a money jar. This money jar, or it could be a physical account as well, holds funds you pay to  yourself first. Yes it works very well.

The concept of giving 10% tidings is very old. Usually the 10% is given to the church or some other organization. Giving 10% to myself was a bit of a change at first for me. Of course I always tried to save some money but to allocate 10% specifically into a different account has an interesting impact. I was reintroduced to the money jar recently during the training for Abundance facilitator. I thought about how my view on this practice has shifted.

6 years ago when I started my healing journey the 10% went into investing into my health. What we use the funds for should grow our vitality and our energy, is my view now. I know that you also have friends and acquaintances who have money but don’t have health. I understood that what needs to go back to the creator and to ourselves is 10% of energy for growth and sustainability. There doesn’t have to be two different paths, one outside of yourself and one through yourself. They are both satisfied when you grow your electric charge within. You will hear many say that money is energy so giving yourself or your church 10% of money supports that notion. The topic of money is a tad too complicated for this post. For the creator energy to grow and sustain itself, it has to receive back 10% of the energy through our energy system. The natives give rocks, flowers and other gifts of nature when they give thanks to the creator.

Gratitude Journal

A very long time ago I remember one of the Oprah shows where I was introduced to the gratitude journal. Many of my recent coaches used the technique as well. I am not sure why but I did not connect these two concepts – money jar and gratitude journal – together. “The only prayer we ever need is to say THANK YOU”, I remember hearing some years ago. I made the gratitude journal and giving thanks part of my daily routine. Recognizing the little things, whether good or bad that need to be acknowledged on our life journey takes practice. Because you receive almost instant feedback, if you pay attention, it is very rewarding. Fine tuning this skill takes some time so please be patient.

January 1st 2016 was a very special day for me. I observed many wonderful little things around me that made my heart rejoice. One of the pictures I saw that day caught my eye. It was a jar full of colourful notes someone has been doing for a while and she just deposited her first note for 2016 into her jar that day. That’s it! The light bulb went on. It feels correct and it uses tools I embrace. It is also a lot of fun. I got my husband on board. It is simple and this activity brings huge satisfaction. We could feel the energy rising within us as we started to make a deposit after deposit the first day we started it.
